Joining the Therapist Guide ListThe website contains a list of Therapist Guides for Self-Therapy Journey (STJ). These are licensed therapists and counselors who understand STJ and are willing to guide users without requiring them to become regular clients.
Let me explain. There is one section of STJ, Stage 2 (which is about one-fifth of the application), that allows users to explore the childhood origins of their psychological issues. For safety reasons, users are not permitted to use Stage 2 unless they have been evaluated by a therapist or counselor and given an access code for Stage 2.
Any licensed therapist or counselor can request access codes to give to their clients (or people they are guiding) which give these users access to Stage 2. You do not need to join the Therapist Guide List in order to do that. Click here to request your access codes.
In order to make STJ as affordable as possible, we are looking for licensed therapists and counselors who are interested in being on the list of Therapist Guides for STJ. The advantages for you are:
1. Learning about the innovative use of a psychological web application.
2. Additional income from the fees you receive from people you are evaluating and perhaps guiding through Self-Therapy Journey.
3. The possibility that some of these people will choose to go into therapy with you.
You are, of course, free to use Self-Therapy Journey with your regular therapy clients, but in order to be on the list of Therapist Guides, you must be willing to evaluate and guide people in using it without requiring them to become full clients of yours. There is no fee for being on the Therapist Guide List.
Working with People You Are GuidingIt is up to you how to structure your sessions with someone you are guiding with STJ. You will need to do an intake session with them to assess them well enough to determine if they can safely engage in exploring the childhood origins of their psychological issues on their own in Stage 2. You might want to have them check in with you briefly after their first Stage 2 session, and perhaps periodically after that.
Of course, you are free to spend whatever additional time you feel is needed to properly assess how appropriate it is for the person to use Stage 2 and to require any additional sessions with you that you feel are necessary for them to safely use Self-Therapy Journey. And the user should be free to ask you for whatever additional help they want with STJ to use it to their best advantage.
If you are on the list, you are not required to accept just anyone who contacts you. For example, you can restrict the people you work with to those in the same state, if you want to.
Joining the Therapist Guide ListIn order to be on the list of Therapist Guides, you must also understand Self-Therapy Journey. You can learn about it by taking a professional online or telephone course on STJ. Click here for more information.
